The Truth, like ethics, is rarely pure, and never simple or straight forward. In fact, it could be down right ugly.

Truth and goodness often don't lie in the majority. Such is the fundamental flaw of democracy, which invariably reflects the collective hope, fear, greed and ignorance of the masses; and the results of manipulation from the most influential minority.

It is your duty to inform and educate, once you have found the truth. You should occasionally opt out of the reciprocal back-scratching game. Be prepared to be unappreciated, misunderstood, and most certainly ridiculed as "not a team player."

Truth be told, decisions & actions are often optimized for maximizing one's own short term benefits. That's only human nature and is to be expected.
